• Legal Notice 97 of 2020 Closure of the Courts of Justice (Amendment) Order, 2020 - 23.03.2020

  • This order is to be read in conjunction with Legal Notice 65 of 2020.

    The definition of “court” is Legal Notice 65 of 2020 has been substituted by a definition of “designated court” and this new term is defined to mean any of the courts of justice and any tribunal which is established by law and which operates from the building of the Courts of Justice and any boards, commissions, committees or other entities which operate from the Courts of Justice before which proceedings are undertaken and which are subject to time-limits.

    This legal notice specifically mentions the following entities as falling under this Legal Notice:

    • Industrial Tribunal
    • Employment Commission
    • Committee of Inquiry (Deprivation of Citizenship)
    • Partition of Inheritances Tribunal
    • Information and Data Protection Appeals Tribunal.

    When proceedings have been concluded before any tribunal, board, commission, committee or other entity which does not operate from the court building, and such proceedings are subject to a time-limit for the filing of acts before the court, the time limit shall be suspended for a period of 20 days from the lifting of the repeal of the closure order which refers to the courts.

    The suspension of time limits in force prior to the coming into force of this Legal Notice insofar as it concerns tribunals, boards, commissions, committees and other entities not operating from the building of the courts shall remain in force for 5 days from the coming into force of this Legal Notice
