• New Incentives issued by Government – 24.03.2020

  • This is the third set of incentives issued by the Government of Malta to help employers and employees during the COVID-19 pandemic.

    • The Government will provide €800 per month where both parents work in the private sector, and one of the parents has to remain at home to take care of their children;
    • The Government will provide €800 per month to persons having a disability working in the private sector and registered with Jobsplus, and who opt to stay at home because they would be the most vulnerable to COVID-19 due to their condition.
    • Employees who would have their job terminated by their employer since the 9th March 2020 onwards due to the COVID-19, will be receiving €800 per month;

    The above measures apply to both employees and self-employed. There will be a separate application for each measure – individuals are to apply online through servizz.gov / more information to be obtained on 153.

    Malta Enterprise measures:

    The Government will provide €800 per month to each employee working in the sectors directly hit by the COVID-19 – including the tourism sector and the industries which had to temporarily shut down due to the precautionary decisions taken by the Government to protect public health. For these industries, the Government will pay the full rate of pay for 5 days per week at €800 monthly.

    Employees working in wholesale, manufacture, and warehousing industries will benefit from a day paid on the rate of €800 monthly.
